Musings
I find it really quite amazing how quickly we can adapt to having technology. For instance I have a pc a laptop and an iPod touch and with each new device get ever more acostomed to having all my stuff on the go. I wonder what new toys we will all take as an essential part of life in 10 years time.
It is really great how I can update my family tree on the fly and now I have it on my iPod can easily put people on the version from my genealogy software into my tree without having to flick between windows!
I can also take notes in class on a Tony device the size of a cell phone then upload them to goolge so I can access them anywhere. All relatively new innovations but all things I take forgranted.

Some stuff
As I am sitting here listening to a podcast from the uk national archives I thought I would write about an amusing incident from the other week.
For obvious reasons I had never taken Kate to the shops unaccompanied, but I went down the other day Kate was allowed to come. She had it explained to her that I could not stop her from running on the road or anything as I only have 'little arms.' She agreed to walk nicely and hold my hand. Just as we went out of my gate she says to me " you should get some big arms from the shop". I replied that I was not sure I could do that, to which Kate replied "oh but I will put help you put them on". Sooo funny!!!
Am about to go to my cousin's babyshower so I had better get a wriggle on.

Anniversary weekend.
Well this weekend was Auckland anniversary weekend. Had a nice but expensive weekend. On Saturday we met up with Kate's paternal family - though not her dad as he has not even bothered to ask about her for almost 2 years.
Still his parents and sisters do want to be involved so kate sees them every 2 or 3 months. This time we all had a nice 'picmic' together at the Hamilton gardens.
Then Kate charl and I went and got a new tv as ours was a loaner. We even managed to set it up and get sky working ourselves! Go girl power!!
After that i did a spot of editing of monnie's cover letter for a graphic design job in hams. The internet really is very useful as she was in waihi beach and i was in hams.
Sunday was actually a non spending day, which was lucky. Today I finally got a nice new duvet cover. The last time I did that was in the 20th century!
Now it is bed time and I am sitting listening to a doco about the silk road.

The Christmas gift.
I got a really nice framed Renoir print from my parents for Christmas. It was all the more special as it actually used to hang on my nana's wall and I had always liked it. When nana died in 2007 my aunt took all her paintings to a second hand shop in waikanae so they left the family. I was a little sad as nana's pics were such a part of her home but figured aunty glen was not to know of my especially liking several of them so that was just the way it went.
As it turned out though mum and another of my aunts saw one in a secondhand shop in petone and so they got it for me and that was my Christmas present. I am still kind of stunned but really thrilled that it found it's way back to the family!

Just because I can
Thought I would set up blogging from my iPod. I am far too cheap to have an iPhone so an iPod touch does the job for me. Kate started kindy today and seemed to cope well so that is good. She is ultra shy like her mummy so we were all a bit worried how she would be but she must have been mentally ready so it went swimmingly. Hopefully tomorrow does too!

My great, great aunt's wedding pic.
Thanks to the magic of the internet I was lucky enough to be sent a pic of my great grandmother and family at the wedding of great grandma's elder sister's wedding. My great grandmother is standing in the second row at the right hand side. In front of the two guys and behind the lady with a kid on her knee. Even cooler is that her parents (yes my great, great grandparents) are in the pic too. They are the oldest looking people in the centre of the photo. That branch of the family arrived in 1887. My great great grandma's parents and several married and unmarried siblings came out at the same time.
